Donate Today: Fundraising to Fight Poverty in Rhode Island

July 30, 2020

 Dear Friend,

I am writing today to thank you for your past support and to ask you, once again, to support the fight against poverty that people of faith are bringing to Rhode Island lawmakers.

During this tumultuous time, your support and the work that we do are even more important. Covid-19 has highlighted the inequality that exists in our society and Rhode Islanders face housing and food insecurity like never before. The RI Interfaith Coalition to Reduce Poverty continues to serve as a faith-based voice on systemic issues that underlie poverty. Together we serve a unique role  in uniting religious communities, advocates and organizers, to advocate for public policy and societal change that will lift children and families out of poverty.

We are united in our belief that each and every Rhode Islander deserves fundamentals such as safe/affordable housing, a livable wage, and to live without discrimination and the oppression of poverty. During the pandemic, we have continued our work by supporting several anti-poverty initiatives which included, advocating for affordable housing and pausing evictions, working to raise the benefit rate for people in deep poverty, supporting nursing home healthcare workers and residents, advocating for resources for the immigrant community and advocating for a just and fair state budget.

With your financial support, we can continue to organize and amplify the voices of people faith in the fight against poverty. Our belief that no one should endure the trials of poverty is connected to our belief in equality and in the goodness within ourselves,  which we want to see in the world.

Please help us continue the fight! You can donate by mail or by going to www.endpovertyri.org.

Thank you again for your support.

Sincerely,
David Veliz
