15th Annual Fighting Poverty With Faith Vigil

Join us as we gather on January 4th for the first 2023 session of the Rhode Island General Assembly and as we remind our elected officials of their responsibility to those living in poverty.

Every year, we gather at the State House to provide inspiration and encouragement to our elected officials that together we can improve the lives of all Rhode Islanders and reduce poverty in our state. At the Vigil, you will hear the coalition's focused and specific policies for legislative action for the 2023 calendar year as well as a powerful lineup of speakers from faith leaders to legislatures. Our keynote speaker this year is the brilliant Grace Swinski who is the Archdeacon of the Episcopal Diocese of RI.

We believe that all Rhode Islanders deserve food security, affordable housing, decent wages, quality education and accessible healthcare. As a community, we all have a responsibility to protect and support all Rhode Islanders, whatever our religion, race/ethnicity, immigration status, gender, age or socioeconomic standing.

Grounded in our faith traditions, we are called to educate, empower and advocate.

During the Vigil, we will:
* call on elected officials to govern with care, compassion and wisdom
* propose specific policies for legislative action in 2023
* bear witness to our faith traditions and teachings that we are to be a community that cares for all, not just some
* cultivate and offer inspiration and encouragement in the struggle for economic justice.
